About me

My name is Ruben Verweij, I’m a physicist, analog photographer and aspiring pianist. Additionally, I like programming and maintain various open-source projects such as ND2Reader and Pimsviewer. If you’re interested in connecting with me, you can find my CV on LinkedIn.

In my PhD research, I focus on the Self-Assembly of Colloid Supported Lipid Bilayers. I link micrometer-sized silica particles coated in a lipid bilayer together with DNA linkers. The DNA linkers provide specific bonding, while the fluid lipid bilayer ensures the particles are reconfigurable. This mobile linking scheme leads to interesting new materials on the microscale! Want to know more? See my posts about science, my list of publications or our group website.

One of my hobbies is film photography, I love using my Hasselblad 500C/M or my Rolleiflex New Standard to capture pictures on film. Most of my photos can be viewed via my photo gallery.
